At a glance

The Materioteca of the Department of Environment, Constructions and Design is a unique place in Ticino that collects and exhibits various materials related mainly to the world of construction.
It supports the teaching and research of the degree courses and institutes of the SUPSI Mendrisio Campus, and is also open to professionals in the sector.
It provides consultancy services and access to information on the entire range of samples and their production companies.

Please note:
From Friday 23 January to Monday 23 February 2026, the head of the Materials Library will be absent.
Access, use of the space, free consultation, self-borrowing and return of materials will continue to be guaranteed.
On-site services and consultations open to all will resume as normal on Tuesday 24 February 2026.

Tuesday and Thursday
10:00 - 13:00 / 14:00 - 17:00

Outside these hours the presence of the person in charge is not guaranteed.

General information
The Materials library is open and accessible for self-use from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
For holders of a DACD personal badge, access is possible from Monday to Sunday, 08:00 to 20:00.

Thematic selection on materials

In order to further enhance the relationship between the Library and the DACD Materials Library, a bibliographic selection of texts related to the world of materials can be consulted. The selected texts can be consulted on site and a loan service is available, subject to registration with SLSP SUPSI Swisscovery. By train

Mendrisio railway station. The station subway leads directly to the Campus.

By bus

By car

A2 motorway, Mendrisio exit; follow the road signs indicating SUPSI. Paid parking spaces are available in the Campus.

By bike

In Mendrisio there are several bicycle rental stations operated by PubliBike. On the Campus, special canopies are available for parking bicycles.
